I have guided nearly two hundred clients
who have harvested over fifty pope and young and one Boone and Crockett
whitetail with archery equipment.
I plan to share many tactics I have learned to take these animals that
could easily be applied to how you hunt New England deer...hopefully
making your future seasons more successful. |
Scott Kirkpatrick
Born and raised in Vermont, I have been an avid whitetail hunter since
I was fourteen years old. I’ve had the
opportunity to hunt deer in eleven different states and Canadian provinces
and have harvested a number of mature
animals. I have always surrounded myself with sportsmen who share my same
passions and I've been fortunate
enough to become friends with many professional hunters and successful TV
Personalities who have provided invaluable advice and insight on how to
harvest mature whitetails. Several years ago I moved to Wisconsin and I'm
now into my fourth season as owner and Head Guide of Buffalo County
Outfitters in Buffalo County, Wisconsin. Buffalo County is ranked number
one in North America
for number of Boone & Crockett and Pope & Young whitetails
harvested per square mile. I manage nearly 3000 acres on nine different
properties for trophy whitetails. My management practice consists of
planting my own food plots, determining waterhole locations and tree stand
placement. In the last three years |

Vermont Big Game Trophy
Club Vermont Big Game Trophy Club The trophy display
provided by the BGTC is a sampling of some of the largest deer, bear and
moose ever shot in Vermont. Founded in March 2008 by Brad Hanson and
Curtis Smiley The Vermont Big Game Trophy Club (VTBGC) is committed to the
conservation of Vermont's Big Game and the preservation and documentation
of our hunting heritage.
Recognizing the lack of an accurate and current big game records keeping
system in Vermont, the VTBGC, in cooperation with the Vermont Dept. of
Fish and Wildlife has set up a records keeping club for Vermont’s native
big
game (deer, bear, moose and turkey). These records will be available to
the public through a Records book, as well
as being published in Outdoors Magazine and posting on their website.
Their goal is to publish the “Records of Vermont Big Game” annually. This
book will feature stories, photographs,
and the complete listing of trophies entered in each category. The Vermont
Big Game Trophy Club is a non-profit organization and utilizes a network
of volunteer measurers
throughout the state to measure trophies and forward this information to
the VBGTC offices for inclusion in their records keeping program. For more

Dave Genz
Over the past 30 years, Dave Genz, the man most responsible for the modern
ice fishing revolution, has crisscrossed the northern United States and
southern Canada. Testing and refining his Winter Fishing System, on big
and small water, proving that it works on all species of fish. What did
Dave do to revolutionize ice fishing? He brought mobility. Borrowing the
concept of a fishing boat and adapting it for use on the ice, he developed
the now-famous Fish Trap ice shelter. He brought electronics. The same
innovated mind that built us a better Fish Trap brought us the Ice Box, a
portable sonar holder that customized depth finders for the use out on the
ice. He brought a change in ice fishing philosophy. To understand Dave’s
mpact on the sport, you have to realize he is first and foremost a
fisherman,
winter, spring, summer and fall. He knows what it means to study contour
maps, made a lifetime study of fish habits, knows good equipment when he
picks it up or to design it if can’t find what he wants. Dave’s designs
have led directly to the latest generation rods, lures, line, augers, and
clothing. |

Nick Smith
If Nick Smith was asked to participate in only one aspect of the
outdoor lifestyle, he would without hesitation say it is impossible.
Residing in Lake Bomoseen, VT, Nick divides his time between operating his
guide service, Vermont Outdoor Connections, which specializes in quality
hunting for turkeys and waterfowl; lecturing at seminars; writing several
monthly columns for Outdoors Magazine, Woods & Water USA, La Chasse Peche,
and competing as a professional turkey caller. Nick is one of the current
Vermont state
turkey calling champions. Nick’s status as a Knight & Hale Pro Staffer and
Browning Endorsed Guide has yielded tremendous amounts of turkey and
waterfowl hunting experience that he passes on at every seminar. This
year, attend the Turkey Hunting and Calling seminar and learn the
newest call to grip the turkey woods. This new turkey vocalization was
discovered by Nick and has now lead to
the writing of his third book: Advanced Turkey Hunting—Consistently
Harvesting Gobblers. His success rates of 90% or better on turkeys and
100% opportunity on waterfowl speak for themselves. His first book:
